Hi!
My name is Brandi Bautell, designer behind Maris Rae Handbags. Here is a little bit about me :)
I am married to a wonderful (and patient!) man who has encouraged and supported me every step of the way from the moment I began my Maris Rae handbag line. We have two little boys that I am fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom to. Because my husband was in the military for 7 years, we have endured many moves. While living in Savannah, Georgia in 2004, my husband bought me my first sewing machine. I didn't request one. ..goodness, I didn't even know how to thread one! I had never sewn before, but he knew I had a creative mind and thought I might like one. Once I opened it up and started sewing, I couldn't stop! I found the fact that I could MAKE something so unique and functional with only fabric and thread utterly exciting! My main focus has always been handbags, and I have worked very hard to design and produce a quality handbag to be proud of. While living in upstate New York in 2006, I began my line, Maris Rae Handbags. My sister, Raquel, now helps with the sewing and designing. We pride ourselves on the quality of sewing and detail we put into each bag and accessory.
*So where does the name, Maris Rae, come from, you ask?*
Maris Rae is my Momma's name. She has always whole-heartedly supported me in any endeavor I choose to tackle, never telling me I was dreaming too big or trying to achieve the unachievable.
*Where does my inspiration come from?*
All of my handbags are designed and sewn by my sister and I. My inspiration comes from a diversity of areas. Most is just from God's awesome gift of nature! Sometimes it stems from modern fashion itself, sometimes art, or sometimes just plain everyday objects that we don't usually pay much attention to like pebbles or grass. My mind is always churning with new ideas and color combos. Everywhere I look in my world, I see a potential gorgeous handbag made from the hues or textures I behold. I want every woman to be able to sport a handbag that reflects her personality and gets her away from the hum-drum trends that everyone already carries. I present to you a piece of functional art-a piece that you will truly love to carry-the Maris Rae Handbag.
